Fees & Rebates

Consultation fees

Fees are charged to private clients as per the following discounted rates. These fees are significantly below those recommended by the Australian Psychological Society (APS), which are currently set at $300. These fees cover your session time, brief additional phone consultations, referral calls, consultation with referring doctors and other health professionals and general correspondence. Treatment services do not attract GST.

Fees for private client therapy session:

Session:                                                            Fee:        Medicare rebate: (if eligible)               Out of pocket expense:

60-90 minute consultation:                        $250     $136.35                                                 $113.65

Concession (by arrangement)

Please note, that for all new clients, payment needs to be made for each session at the time it is booked. By paying for appointments at the time of booking, a commitment to therapy is made which improves continuity of care and contributes to positive therapeutic outcomes. This also improves availability for those in need.

Cancellation Policy

Given the long waitlists often experienced by people trying to access psychological support, a 48-hour cancellation policy applies to ensure I can offer an opportunity to other clients who have sought an appointment in any given week. Any appointment cancelled within the 24-hour timeframe may incur a 100 per cent charge of the total fee. If you do not attend an appointment then the total charge will apply.

You will receive an SMS reminding you of your appointment two days before the scheduled time. However, I understand that your lives are busy, things come up and we sometimes forget about appointments. Therefore, if you miss one appointment due to a genuine emergency and call to let me know, I will understand. However, if you miss an appointment without notifying me, or frequently cancel within the 24-hour period, I will need to charge the full fee.

Please call or text me if you are unable to attend and I will always endeavour to do my best to reschedule a time that suits your personal schedule.

Rebates

A Medicare rebate is available on eligible sessions for clients with a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP). This rebate is currently $136.35

Under the current Medicare rebate scheme, clients are currently eligible to receive a rebate for up to 10 sessions under a MHCP per calendar year. The number of sessions you are eligible for is determined by your referring practitioner.

Clients wishing to utilise the Medicare rebate need to have a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) and be referred by a GP or Psychiatrist. Alternatively, if you have private health insurance you may be able to access a rebate through your fund. Please check with your private health fund to confirm any rebates available to you. You are not able to claim both a Medicare rebate and a private health fund rebate for the same session.

Out of hours contact

My mobile will divert to a message bank outside of normal business hours. Clients are advised that if they wish to contact me by mobile or by email outside of business hours, there may be a delay in me being able to respond. It may be more appropriate therefore to contact the Mental Health Crisis Team, or your GP, in the case of an emergency outside business hours.
